MIP Case Study: MEGT – Tasmania

by

In 2016, 75% of a group of 12 year 11 students complete a 16 week MIP project.  80% of survey respondents elected to continue at school which is a great result in this area where there is high risk of early school leavers.

In 2017, 11 students commenced, this years project which is spread across a longer time period with work experience placements of 2 to 3 days a week rather than week blocks.  This is due to difficulties with family support and participants committing to a fulltime week of work experience.

Jordan River Learning Federation incorporates the Bridgewater Trade Training Centre. MEGT has worked closely with the team at the centre and the Tasmanian Education Department to incorporate a MIP project into the existing innovative VET program at the centre.  In arranging work experience for this group MEGT found employers prepared to provide work experience due to the positive outcome they had experienced from work trials.
