MIP Case Study: Automotive Pre-Apprenticeship Scholarships – TACC – Tasmania

by

The TACC Multi Industry Pre-Apprentice project aims to provide participants with the opportunity to have a “hands on” trial of three different automotive industries during the course, mechanical, body repair and auto electrical.

The training component is split into two  5-week sessions and one 4-week session with 1-week work placements scheduled between the training. Training is 4 days per week at TasTafe Hobart and TasTafe Launceston.

TasTAFE is delivering 8 units from Cert I AUR10116 and 12 units from the Cert II AUR20716 plus automotive workplace safety fundamentals and safe working practices in an automotive workplace.

There are 30 days of project workshops, 6 days of practical simulation and work placement rotations of 5 days light vehicle, 5 days auto electrical and 5 days auto body.  It was identified that some participants may have difficulties entering into the fields offered so tyre fitting has been added as a work experience option.
