Labour Hire Licensing Scheme

On Thursday this week the Victorian Labour Hire Commission delivered a specific GTO information session in Melbourne.

It was a disappointing response in regards to the commission’s final decision regarding the inclusion of group training organisations.

The session confirmed that all GTOs operating in Victoria will be required to apply for registration as a labour Hire provider by 29 October 2019 (registrations will open on 29 April).

The fee associated with a GTO application and annual fees will also be calculated on the total annual turnover of the business applying.

Once the labour hire licensing scheme commences on 29 April 2019, labour hire providers must register online to create an account and then apply for a licence.

Labour hire providers will have six months, or until 29 October 2019 to register online and apply for a licence.

Further information will be provided directly to AEN members over the coming weeks on some specific questions asked on the day that the commissioners office will seek further clarification on.

For further information please visit the Labour Hire Authority website.

New Report: Positions Vacant? Youth Employment in Australia

Positions Vacant New Report.
Young people are exhorted to get an education and be prepared to work hard to gain a secure job and lead a comfortable life.

But this connection is breaking down, with income and job prospects for younger people increasingly under threat in a rapidly changing economy and labour market.

The discussion paper released this week reveals that several systems need to mesh together to support young people to make a successful school to work transition.

It seeks to inspire fresh thinking about how governments, educators, employers and communities can do better.
You can access a copy of the free report here.
