Report: Apprenticeship Development for Universal Lifelong Learning and Training (ADULT)
Apprenticeship is a centuries-old system which enables people to acquire skills for an occupation, however, questions are increasingly being raised about its relevance in the context of the future of work and lifelong learning.
For example, can it be used for reskilling and upskilling of adults and older workers? To address such issues, the ILO implemented a research project – Apprenticeship Development for Universal Lifelong Learning and Training (ADULT) – which aimed to generate new ideas and policy options to modernise apprenticeship systems in the context of lifelong learning.

Jobs & Skills Energy Workforce Research
Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) is seeking your views about the workforce and skills Australia needs to transition to a clean energy economy.
JSA is inviting submissions from all interested stakeholders including business, unions, and education and training providers until 2 May 2023.
The capacity study will build on existing research and deepen understanding of the clean energy sector by:
- Clarifying what jobs and industries make up Australia’s clean energy workforce.
- Analysing different scenarios for how we could reach net zero by 2050, understanding how many workers will be needed (and where) and who will have the skills to take on those jobs.
- Exploring how the workforce opportunities created by clean energy can be shared across regions and with First Nations Australians, women, people with disability and Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Examining the possibilities for workers in high-emitting sectors to transition to new roles in their communities that will build on their existing skills and experience.
- Identifying the education, training and migration pathways that we should be developing, and the underlying system settings needed to enable those pathways.
Submissions to the Clean Energy Capacity Study can be made until 5pm AEST on Tuesday 2 May 2023.

Enhancing Interpersonal Skills
DISC is a highly beneficial tool to assist us in recognising differences between people. It helps us understand ourselves and others better. By accepting, respecting, and adapting to these differences, we can build long-term relationships and positive influence.
You will complete a self-evaluation survey in the lead-up to the training, an important element to learn more about your own personality traits and spot behavioural preferences in others. You will walk away from this interactive group session with the knowledge of how to recognise other people’s behavioural patterns so you can modify your communication to achieve win/win outcomes.
Date: Wednesday 3 May 2023
Managing Conflict with Confidence
Positive relationships and win/win outcomes are critical success contributors, and a range of conflicts can easily interrupt this. We must acquire the expertise and confidence to manage our emotional state effectively while in the heat of the moment to avoid negative effects on our wellbeing, morale and productivity.
