Apprenticeships Taskforce Improving Safety and Fairness at Work
The Victorian Government has established a new taskforce aimed at enhancing fairness and safety for apprentices in the workplace. The Apprenticeships Taskforce, formed through the Victorian 2023/24 Budget, will provide recommendations to improve workplace safety and support for apprentices and trainees across Victoria.
The taskforce will be chaired by former General Secretary of the ITUC, Sharan Burrow, and will include representatives from unions and industry. The $1.5 million taskforce, managed by Apprenticeships Victoria, will focus on regulatory arrangements, incident responses, employer screening processes, complaint reporting, and accountability. Currently, more than 85,000 Victorians are enrolled in apprenticeships or traineeships, with a majority working in trades.
AEN look forward to participating in the Apprenticeship Taskforce.

Business Writing for the Digital Era
Writing proper business-related documents in today’s workplace requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals behind how specific documents should be approached, designed and edited. Written communications in the workplace should be concise, yet thorough and well laid out. Technology enabled communications (emails and texts) should also be well thought out and designed to get the correct message across, while avoiding any potential misinterpretation.

ILO Strategy on Skills and Lifelong Learning 2030
Lifelong learning empowers individuals and societies to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world, equipping them with relevant knowledge, skills, and perspectives necessary for personal and professional growth.
It fosters intellectual curiosity, promotes innovation and productivity, and helps individuals remain relevant and engaged in a rapidly evolving global society.
The ILO strategy on skills and lifelong learning 2030 released last week presents the key steps the ILO - in collaboration with relevant development partners – will undertake in the period 2022-2030 to strengthen its global leadership in skills development and lifelong learning systems.
The strategy details a theory of change consisting of five core short- to medium-term targeted outcomes to enhance skills systems and promote lifelong learning, as well as the five components through which the ILO will channel its work to fuel this change.
The targeted outcomes empower societies to meet wider socio-economic impacts dealing with the necessary digital and green transitions, increased resilience, social justice and decent work and contribute to key SDGs (4,5, and 8 in particular).
