We are excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Apprentice Training Awards.
|
These awards recognise the outstanding achievements and commitment within Victoria’s vocational education system and highlight the individuals and organisations shaping the future of apprenticeships and traineeships.
|
This year holds a special significance as we celebrate 40 Years of the AEN supporting apprentices, trainees, and the Group Training network across Victoria. Since 1985, we have remained committed to building a skilled, resilient workforce.
|
A new category, "Apprentice Training Provider of the Year" has been introduced to this year's awards it recognises a Victorian Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that demonstrates excellence, innovation, and impact in apprentice vocational education and training across diverse learner cohorts and community or industry needs.
|
Nominations will be opened until Monday 11 August 2025.

The Minister for Indigenous Australians, Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, has congratulated the winners of the 2025 NAIDOC Awards.
|
The winners were announced at the National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony in Perth, ahead of NAIDOC Week celebrations across the country.
|
This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week celebrations, this year’s NAIDOC Week theme is

"The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy".
|
The NAIDOC Awards recognise individual excellence and celebrate the strength, culture and leadership of First Nations people.

Women in Leadership Australia Scholarships
|
|
|
Women in Leadership Australia are offering partial scholarships for women in the Education, Training and Development Industry ranging from $700 to $5,000 per person, for one of four leadership and workplace skill development programs.
|
These scholarships are aimed at encouraging more women to increase their impact at work, progress their career, and step into leadership roles.
|

The Victorian Training Awards recognise excellence in the skills and training sector, celebrating the achievements of apprentices, trainees, students, teachers, trainers, employers and training providers throughout the state.
|
The 2025 finalists have been named across 14 categories: 6 award categories for individuals, 4 for employers and 4 for training organisations.

Winners of the Victorian Training Awards will be announced at the gala event on Friday 19 September 2025 to be held at Centrepiece at Melbourne Park.

Local Jobs First Amendment Bill 2025
|
|
|
The Bill will likely be considered by the Legislative Assembly during the next sitting of Parliament, 29th - 31st July.
|
The purposes of this amended Bill are to:
|
- clarify the obligations of suppliers and agencies under the Local Jobs First scheme
- provide additional enforcement powers for the Local Jobs First Commissioner (the Commissioner)
- introduce new civil penalties and other consequences for non-compliance with the Local Jobs First scheme
- provide for additional Local Jobs First Policy (the Policy) objectives; and
- clarify references to the Local Jobs First Policy and associated obligations and guidelines.
|
The AEN will keep members up to date on any changes once finalised.
|
|

|
Now moving into its fifteenth year, National Skills Week will again set out to bring to life the positive messages, highlighting the talents, the skills, the career pathways and the value of apprentices and trainees across Australia to the wider public and employers. The week is dedicated to raising the status of skills and vocational learning.
|
Past years achieved much, with unparalleled media coverage accompanied by the practical inclusions of over 500 known events taking place across the country delivering engaging and inspirational messages, promoting the VET sector generally.
|
National Skills Week is an initiative of SkillsOne, who will once again be driving the initiative working with government and stakeholders to achieve unique and beneficial outcomes, accompanied and supported by unprecedented media coverage.

The misuse of alcohol and drugs has a significant negative impact on Australian business. It is a work health and safety matter demanding attention of both workers and management.

Since the program commenced in May 2020, a total of 1,332 participants have been supported to date, with 82% being male and 18% female.
|
Apprentices and trainees who have lost employment are encouraged to register.
|
|
Once registered, apprentices and trainees will be assisted by one of our program officers until placed with a host employer through a Group Training Organisation (GTO), or directly with an employer.
|
