Australian Apprenticeship Support Service – Contract Announcement
|
Earlier this week the Australian Apprenticeship Support Service providers were given further instructions on the future contract period.
|
The existing providers will now stay in place until 1 February 2020.
|

Be a Safety Champion – WorkSafe Australia Launch Safety Month

The theme for this October’s National Safe Work Month is 'Be a Safety Champion'.

This year’s theme demonstrates that anyone, both employers and workers from any occupation or industry can be a champion for work health and safety.

Workforce Training Innovation Fund (WTIF) - Round One for 2019-20 is Now Open
|
The Workforce Training Innovation Fund (WTIF) is a targeted, Skills First funding stream. WTIF creates opportunities for the joint exploration of new ideas and solutions to enhance workplace productivity.
|
Eligible organisations can apply for either Seed or Grant Funding under WTIF – follow the link below for more details.
|
- Lodge an Expression of Interest (EoI) through wtif@edumail.vic.gov.au. Include in your email, primary contact, organisation details, phone number, address and a four-line statement of your WTIF funding idea.
- Your EoI email should be headed Expression of Interest.
- A Principal Regional Advisor (PRA) from the Department will contact you within five business days to discuss your proposed application and confirm eligibility and suitability for the fund.
- Following this you will receive an email and link to the relevant online application form.
Round One for 2019-20 is now open and closes at 5pm, Friday, 20 September 2019.

Funding Boost for Free TAFE as Enrolments Surge
|
The Victorian Government has unveiled a major funding package to support the huge growth in enrolments in its landmark Free TAFE initiative.
|
Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney this week announced an additional $11.7 million to accommodate the strong student demand for the Free TAFE program.
|
Support services to assist students facing disadvantage will be extended through a $6 million boost, including new course materials to help students improve their time management, study skills and literacy, making them more employable.
|
An additional $5 million will help ensure TAFEs keep up with demand so eligible students can enrol in their preferred Free TAFE course.
|
A $500,000 initiative will offer teaching scholarships to professionals with industry experience to address staffing vacancies in priority areas.
|
A new $200,000 program will trial ways TAFEs can work with the not-for-profit early childhood sector to support work placements for students enrolled in The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and Certificate III in Early Childhood Education, which start in 2020.
|
More than 25,000 students have commenced training in Free TAFE courses in the six months to the end of June, a 92 per cent increase in commencements in these courses compared to the same period in 2018.
|
Female students account for 57 per cent of all Free TAFE students, up nine per cent compared with the same courses last year.
|
The data also shows that female participation has doubled in traditionally male-dominated courses such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Building Surveying and Cyber Security.
|
Meanwhile, students over the age of 30 account for 47 per cent of Free TAFE students and more than a quarter of Free TAFE commencements are in regional Victoria.
|

What to do, once you've signed up
|
The first thing to know is that there is no plastic card issued for a Bunning’s Power Pass member. Your membership is always with you, as the ID card lives on your phone.
|
- After you've filled in the application and it’s been processed you will receive an email asking you to confirm your email address, so it’s imperative that we get your email address right.
- After we have verified your email address, you will receive a new email with your CARD NUMBER and a link to download the Bunnings PowerPass App for your phone.
4. Load the App, enter your card number and you’re good to go.
