Tim Allen leads national initiatives to build future-ready capabilities across Australia’s workforce. As the AI National Skills Director for Microsoft in Australia and New Zealand, Tim works closely with government, industry, and education partners to design and deliver scalable AI skilling programs that empower individuals and communities.
Tim plays a pivotal role in shaping national policy and strategy, serving as Co-Chair of the Digital Jobs pillar of the NSW Digital Skills and Workforce Compact. He was also a co-author of the influential “Break Down the Barriers – Hire for Skills, Not Just Degrees” report, which helped catalyse the NSW Government’s 20% Alternative Pathways Pledge.
With a background in digital transformation and a passion for inclusive innovation, Tim brings a systems-level perspective to the challenge of preparing Australians for the opportunities and disruptions of AI. Prior to joining Microsoft, he worked in EY’s Climate Change and Sustainability team and held roles in the social impact sector with the Australian Red Cross and the National Heart Foundation.
Tim’s session at the AEN Mid-Year Conference will explore how AI is reshaping the future of work and learning, and how collaborative skilling strategies can unlock opportunity across the vocational education and training sector.
