Retrenched Apprentices and Trainees Program
|

|
This program has now supported almost 650 participants since May 2020 and recommenced over 230 apprentices and trainees with a new employer.
|
|
Currently there are 110 participants on our active caseload.
|
|
|

|
Apprentices and trainees who have lost their employment are encouraged to register.
|
Once on the register, apprentices and trainees will be assisted by one of our program officers until placed with a host employer through a Group Training Organisation (GTO) or directly with an employer whilst also directing you to the most appropriate advice and assistance while you remain out of employment.
|

Digital Skills Webinar
|
|
GAN Australia and the Apprenticeship Employment Network are currently undertaking a research project with support from the Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships Information Services that is focused on:
|
- Promoting digital capacity building for vulnerable underserved groups.
- Providing government and policy influencers with a set of examples to advance digital transformation opportunities in Australia, when these are related to work-based learning programmes that help vulnerable groups with their school-to-work transition or re-connection into the labour market.
This project aligns with Microsoft and LinkedIn’s global recommendations for an inclusive economic recovery post COVID-19 and beyond in 2021.

Skills First – Skill Sets
|
|
The Victorian Government is introducing a new accredited short course offering – Skills First Skill Sets – to support more Victorians to access flexible, sector-specific and industry-validated rapid training that responds to skills shortages and workforce demands.
|
Skills First Skill Sets will provide Victorians with the opportunity to rapidly reskill in areas that support our economic recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. Using a phased and managed approach, the initial course list will focus on rapid training, enabling Victorians to reduce the risk of long-term unemployment and provide the work-ready graduates that industry needs.

All Skill Sets on the Funded Skill Sets List:
|
- Have been validated through established industry consultation processes
- Are comprised of nationally recognised training that can be used as building blocks to full qualifications
- Will be regularly reviewed to ensure they align with Victoria’s economic, industry and social needs.
Broad eligibility settings have been put in place to ensure that previous training is not a barrier to accessing a Skill Set, meaning that Victorians looking to reskill, are able to.
|
In partnership with the Commonwealth Government under the Job Trainer Fund, 20,000 Skill Sets enrolments in priority areas will be available free to young and unemployed Victorians, supporting them to reskill.
|
Skills First Skill Sets complement existing programs which are already offering Victorians thousands of construction skill sets, as well as free skill sets in infection prevention and control training tailored to industries.
|
|
The initial Skill Sets offering will be closely monitored by the Department of Education and Training. There will be future opportunities for industry, unions and providers to contribute to the course selection to ensure courses are relevant to workforce needs.
|

Victorian Big Build Apprenticeships - New Website
|
|
The Victorian Government is providing up to 1500 apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities per year to help Victorians who are finishing school or looking to re-skill, to kickstart a career on some of the biggest and most iconic infrastructure projects in the state.
|
There is an expression of interest page for individuals and a wide range of information promoting the benefits of starting an apprenticeship.
|

These workshops are designed for anyone who wants to provide feedback in relation to RTO practices and factors that support high-quality training delivery.

The quality reforms workshops seek your input to explore:

- The features of high-quality training delivery and providers
- The effectiveness of the current Standards for RTOs
- How to support the VET workforce for high-quality delivery.
We are interested in hearing your views on how we can support high-quality training delivery beyond compliance with minimum requirements and foster a shared understanding of quality across the sector.

Funding for Women's Leadership Development Available
|
Funding is available through Women & Leadership Australia to support the development of female leaders across Australia’s education, training and development sector.
|
The initiative is providing women with grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to enable participation in one of three leadership development courses designed for emerging through to senior leaders.
|
The scholarship funding must be allocated by the end of March 2021.
|
