Victorian COVID Restrictions Eased Again
|
From 11.59pm Thursday 24 June, COVID restrictions in Victoria will further ease.
|
Private visitors to the home will increase from two in Melbourne, and five in regional Victoria to 15 across the entire state – and up to 50 people can gather outside in a public place like a park.
|
Funerals and weddings will be capped at 300 people, and hospitality venues can serve up to 300 in Melbourne, but density limits still apply.
|
Masks must still be worn inside, and more people in metropolitan Melbourne can return to offices, with 75% capacity – or 30 people in a workplace – whichever is greater.
|

|
Digital skills are a vital and growing area of interest within the Australian skills landscape.
|
|
The majority of workforce roles now require generic digital skills, and there are increasing needs to technical digital skills.
|
|
|
|
Join the AATIS expert panellists who will discuss:
|
- The types of digital skills needed in Australia;
- How the Australian VET system can deliver these skills; and
- Initiatives targeting the digital workforce.
A facilitated discussion will follow about the role that Australian Apprenticeships have in delivering the digital workforce of the future.

Exposure Draft for the New Employment Services Model 2022 Purchasing Arrangements
|
This week, the Department of Education, Skills and Employment released the Exposure Draft for the New Employment Services Model 2022 Purchasing Arrangements.
|
The Australian Government is undertaking the largest reform to employment services since 1998. The New Employment Services Model (new model) will commence in July 2022.
|
The Exposure Draft describes the proposed purchasing arrangements and Statements of Requirements for each service under the new model, consistent with the reforms announced by the Australian Government in March 2019. The Exposure Draft and related resources are available.
|
The Department will conduct industry briefings for the Exposure Draft in the form of live webinars, and it will be open to all stakeholders.
|
The Department welcomes feedback on this Exposure Draft to inform the Request for Proposals.

NDIS National Workforce Plan: 2021–2025
|
|
|
The NDIS National Workforce Plan: 2021–2025 was recently released and outlines the Australian Government's commitment to work with NDIS participants, industry and other stakeholders to grow a responsive and capable care and support workforce, and to strengthen the sector to meet the needs and aspirations of Australians with disabilities.
|
|
The care and support sector is one of Australia’s largest and fastest growing sectors. This growth is being driven by rapid expansion of the number of NDIS participants and an increasing number of older Australians and veterans within our community accessing care and support.
|
|
|
|
The Plan is designed to attract workers with suitable skills, values and attributes, while also improving existing workers’ access to training and development opportunities. The Plan will generate benefits for participants, workers, providers, and the broader Australian economy:
|
- Participants will have access to higher quality supports and improved continuity of supports.
- Workers will benefit from improved training and access to professional development opportunities.
- Providers will benefit from better regulation across the sector and more market demand information to drive innovation.
The 16 initiatives in the Plan will enable workforce growth in the NDIS, and support complementary workforce measures in aged care and support services for veterans.

Electrical Company Fined for Unsupervised Apprentice
|
|
|
An electrical company that left a first-year apprentice with only two months' experience to work unsupervised with live equipment has been convicted and fined $10,000.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Retrenched Apprentices and Trainees Program
|
|
|
This program has now supported over 800 participants since May 2020, and over 315 apprentices and trainees have commenced with a new employer.
|
|
Currently, there are almost 90 participants on our active caseload.
|
|
|
|

|
|
Apprentices and trainees who have lost employment are encouraged to register.
|
Once on the register, apprentices and trainees will be assisted by one of our program officers until placed with a host employer through a Group Training Organisation (GTO), or directly with an employer, whilst also directing you to the most appropriate advice and assistance while you remain out of employment.
|
|
|
|
