Changes to Mandatory Vaccination Requirements for Higher Education, Training and Skills

Following advice from the Acting Chief Health Officer, the Minister for Health announced on 18 July changes to COVIDSafe measures in Victoria that impact the higher education, skills and training sector.

From 11.59pm on Friday 24 June, Pandemic Orders requiring two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine for the higher education sector will be removed, with responsibility for vaccine requirements shifting to individual employers.

This means employers will be able to set their own workplace conditions, including on whether to continue requiring their staff to have two or three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Further advice will be provided on this matter, including permissions around continuing to collect vaccination information from your workforce.

Vaccine requirements for students, trainees and apprentices and staff assessors
Students, trainees and apprentices who are attending workplaces onsite for practical placements, e.g. in health or aged care, should follow the vaccination requirements relating to their job or workplace. There will be some workplaces which will continue to require their workforce to be vaccinated to attend onsite work.

Student assessors in the above categories should check with their employers regarding vaccine requirements.

For further information on current restrictions, please visit Coronavirus Victoria.
