Victoria’s Climate Change Strategy

Recently the Victorian government released its Victoria’s Climate Change Strategy as a roadmap to net-zero emissions and a climate resilient Victoria by 2050.

The initiatives in the Climate Change Strategy will support communities and businesses to make the changes we need to reduce the impacts of climate change and continue to support our economy to grow.

The Government has set ambitious, but achievable targets to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 levels by 28–33% by 2025 and 45–50% by 2030. These targets maintain Victoria’s position as a climate leader in Australia and confirms our position among leading jurisdictions around the world, such as the United States and the European Union.

To achieve these emissions reduction targets Victoria’s Climate Change Strategy includes actions to:
  • transition our state to a clean energy future that will create jobs, cut costs for households and businesses and strengthen our energy system
  • invest in innovative technologies, such as zero emissions vehicles and hydrogen, and partner with businesses and communities to set Victoria up for their adoption
  • recognise and safeguard the role of our natural environment in reducing emissions, and ensure our farmers are well placed to embrace new technologies and practices that reduce emissions
  • support Victorian businesses and communities to cut emissions and thrive in a net-zero emissions future.
This Strategy is a 10‑year framework to inform government planning and investment in the skills and training Victoria requires to reach net‑zero emissions. It is the blueprint to guide government, industry, business, educational institutions, and employers through this profound transformation, which will have implications for our whole economy. As we work to meet our renewable energy and emissions reductions targets, we’ll bring these stakeholders together to support an agile and responsive system for workforce development with an estimated. 59000 new jobs – incl. 6000 apprentices.

Updated ATO Advice For Apprentices

AATIS recently released 'Job Well Done', a collection of real-life stories of apprentices and trainees highlighting the diversity of employment outcomes of Australian Apprenticeship pathways.

This is a great resource to share with students or job hunters considering an apprenticeship, to help them understand the successful outcomes of starting their career via an apprenticeship or traineeship pathway.
This week NCVER released a new report – The Common Traits of Effective Online Teaching - As the world increasingly embraces online learning, it is important to know how to teach effectively online.

NCVER looked at eight different qualifications that represented a diversity of student cohorts, industry types and qualification levels to see how online teaching is done in various settings.

Though there isn't a single approach that works for everyone, training providers found that effective online teaching includes clear communication, active participation, easy-to-understand content, consistent methods, diverse learning materials, and support for students.
