AATIS Process of Transitioning Information

The Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships Information Service (AATIS) is in the process of transitioning information provision to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, prior to closure in December 2023.

The AATIS enquiry service, including the 1800 phone number, will be decommissioned by the end of July 2023.>

Enquiries regarding Australian Apprenticeships information should be directed to an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider or Group Training Provider.

Users will be able to contact AATIS via email for enquiries regarding the service.

What will happen if people try to contact AATIS once the enquiry service is decommissioned?

Users who contact AATIS will be directed to contact an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider or Group Training Organisation (GTO) for information about Australian Apprenticeships.
  • 1800 hotline: An automated message will direct users to search for an AASN provider or GTO on the Government’s Apprenticeships website.
  • AAPathways contact page: Users will be directed to information that may answer their questions, or to contact an AASN provider or GTO for enquiries regarding Australian Apprenticeships.
  • Email: An automatic reply will direct users to an AASN provider or GTO for Australian Apprenticeships information. AATIS staff will forward this email and respond to enquiries where relevant.
What should I do if I refer people to the AATIS enquiry service?
If you publish the AATIS 1800 phone number on your website or other materials, we suggest removing this and replacing it with a link to www.apprenticeships.gov.au

If you link to the AAPathways contact page, users will be able to access information from this page. However, you should consider replacing these links with information on how to contact an AASN provider or GTO.

What is the best contact point for information about Australian Apprenticeships?
Enquiries about Australian Apprenticeships should be referred to an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider or a Group Training Organisation.

A searchable list of AASN providers and GTOs is available from the Governments Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider list.

Expiry of COVID-19 Vaccination Information Regulations

WorkSafe Victoria is reminding employers that pandemic regulations put in place to assist with the collection, recording, holding and use of COVID-19 vaccination information from specified persons expired on Wednesday 12 July - this week.

Following the revocation of the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (COVID-19 Vaccination Information) Regulations, employers who recorded or held COVID-19 vaccination information specifically under these regulations have 30 days to destroy that information.

The regulations were introduced in mid-2022 following the removal of certain vaccination requirements under the Pandemic Orders and supported employers to collect, record, hold and use COVID-19 vaccination information from specified persons attending a workplace under their management or control in order to determine and to implement reasonably practicable measures to control COVID-19 risks.

A specified person includes employees, independent contractors and their employees, volunteers and students on placement permitted to attend the workplace.

The destruction of information requirement does not apply to employers that are permitted or required under other laws to collect, use, record, or hold vaccination information.

Employers are reminded that a person's COVID-19 vaccination status is health information protected by other legislation such as the Health Records Act.

For further details please visit WorkSafe Victoria.
