International Women’s Day

All IWD activity is valid, that's what makes IWD inclusive.

IWD was started collectively by burning passion and tenacity for positive change back in 1911.

Today, it is this very essence that ignites, inspires, directs and connects audiences globally. One world, one mission: a movement forging women's equality. Collective activism connects audiences from anywhere, and everywhere.

IWD draws together and unifies all those who care deeply about women's equality, who care about righting the wrongs, who care about doing what they can to help forge a gender-equal and inclusive world.

Victorian Energy Jobs Plan Consultation Paper

Have your say in shaping the Victorian Energy Jobs Plan

The Victorian Government is planning for Victoria’s future renewable energy workforce through the Victorian Energy Jobs Plan.

The Plan will support Victoria to develop the workforce required to deliver our nation leading target of 95 percent renewable electricity generation by 2035, and to drive investment confidence to enable the energy transition.

The Victorian Energy Jobs Plan Consultation Paper has been designed to:
  • provide an update on the development of the Plan, based on research and consultation findings to date.
  • provide stakeholders, rightsholders and unions with an opportunity to give feedback and support the process.
  • test key questions and issues with stakeholders, rightsholders and unions, which are set out in the document to guide submissions.
Submissions received in response to this Consultation Paper will inform development of the Victorian Energy Jobs Plan and our approach to the forthcoming Wind Worker Training Centre and Hydrogen Worker Training Centre.

Ai Group Centre for Education & Training Skills Survey

Ai Group will use these insights to shape their advocacy on the strategies and initiatives needed to ensure more Australian businesses can access the skills and capabilities they need to grow.
WorkSafe is reminding Victorian employers that strict controls to protect workers from deadly crystalline silica dust will be enforced in the lead up to the nationwide engineered stone ban later this year.

From 1 July 2024, employers will no longer be permitted to carry out work involving the manufacturing, supply, processing or installation of engineered stone.

Victoria already has the strongest regulatory regime in Australia with respect to the use of engineered stone, including a ban on the uncontrolled dry-cutting of engineered stone and requiring businesses undertaking engineered stone processes to hold a licence.

WorkSafe Executive Director Health and Safety Narelle Beer said employers must continue to comply with the state's strict engineered stone requirements ahead of the ban.

A WorkSafe campaign raising awareness of the ban on engineered stone has begun, including advertising in regional and culturally diverse publications, multi-lingual social media messaging and communications to licence holders.

Government-funded Students and Courses Rise

This week NCVER released the Government-funded students and courses - January to September 2023 report, which provides a summary of data relating to domestic Government-funded VET activity delivered in Australia. It contains information on students, programs, subjects and training providers.

The data shows there were 1 074 005 students enrolled in government-funded vocational education and training (VET) in the first nine months of 2023, an increase of 1.7% when compared with the same period in 2022.

In the January to September 2023 period, there were 1 245 855 government-funded program enrolments, similar to the same period in 2022. The majority of government-funded program enrolments were in training package qualifications, which accounted for 78.9% of enrolments.

Community Services was the most popular training package.

Engineering and related technologies had 209 795 program enrolments in the nine months to September 2023, making it the most popular field of education once again.

Certificate III qualifications continued to be the most popular level of education.

Mental Health in the Workplace

This training examines the impact on mental health of negative workplace behaviours, of poor work culture and organisational failure and of practices, roles and responsibilities in contributing to a mentally healthy workplace.

In this engaging session, you will learn how to reduce interruptions and optimise your day by using a variety of productivity hacks that can make all the difference. These techniques are easy to learn and can help you work smarter, not harder.

Facilitating Crucial Conversations

Sometimes we choose to avoid difficult conversations as they seem too hard, but unfortunately the problems remain unresolved. Other times we facilitate crucial conversations and wish we knew how to handle them better. Here’s the upside: there are well-tested communication strategies to swiftly turn dysfunctional situations into constructive conversations.
