Victorian Group Training Standards

Victorian Group Training Organisations are now regulated under new arrangements that commenced on 1 July 2016 through the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority (VRQA).

The VRQA and the Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN) are now working together to co-regulate Victorian group training organisations (GTOs).

Victorian VRQA GTO recognition process

The GTO recognition process and forms required to be submitted for organisations seeking to be recognised as a GTO in Victoria are available on the VRQA website.

Steps to organisations seeking GTO recognition in Victoria

Step 1​: Submit an application, including a compliance self-assessment against the National Standards for Group Training Organisations, and associated evidence.  AEN can provide you with the login details to complete the self assessment online.

Step 2: VRQA will assess the application and conduct a financial viability assessment, requesting specific financial information about your organisation.

Step 3: An audit will be conducted to determine your compliance with the National Standards for Group Training Organisations. This may involve a desk-audit and/or site audit.

Step 4: VRQA will  provide feedback and seek a response from you.

Step 5: VRQA will make a final decision on the application. If the application is approved, recognition is granted for up to 5 years.
