Katrina embarked on a career change halfway through a Bachelors Degree at
University of Melbourne. Though she excelled academically, Katrina recognised the
need for a more hands-on profession. Opting for the construction industry, she
pursued a career in Electrotechnology and found her niche within the electrical field.
Enrolling in the qualification has boosted Katrina’s confidence with support from
mentors who have encouraged her to expand her knowledge and skills. A shortage
of female mentors impedes her progress, yet she overcomes instances of sexism
through guidance from her female field officer. Her mission extends to mentoring
women in the ‘Women and Their Trade’ program and advocating for gender diversity
on billboards.
