The prestigious Apprentice Training Awards recognise excellence and innovation within the group training sector across various categories. Celebrating outstanding achievements and long-term dedication, these awards highlight the significant contributions of individuals and organisations to vocational education and training.
AEN Categories
The AEN Awards feature three prestigious categories, recognising outstanding contributions and long-term dedication within the group training sector. These categories celebrate individuals and organisations that have significantly impacted vocational education and training.

GTO Categories
The Group Training Organisation (GTO) Awards feature five distinct categories, each celebrating excellence and innovation in the group training sector. These awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions, highlighting exceptional programs, individual dedication, industry collaboration, service milestones, and initiatives in occupational health and safety.
The categories include:
- GTO Service Excellence Award – Program or Initiative
- GTO Service Excellence Award – Individual
- GTO Industry Service Awards
- GTO Industry Collaboration Award
- Outstanding OHS Initiative Award
Each award showcases the commitment and impact of GTOs in advancing vocational education and training.
Individual Categories
The Apprentice Training Awards feature eight categories for which individuals may be nominated, with the possibility of being nominated in multiple categories. These awards celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions in various aspects of apprentice and trainee development.

- Apprentice of the Year
- Trainee of the Year
- Inspiration Award: Disability Achievement
- Inspiration Award: Indigenous Student of the Year
- Inspiration Award: Overcoming Adversity
- Inspiration Award: Women in Trades
- School-based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year
- STAR Award

Nomination Process
Nominations for the 2024 Apprentice Training Awards have now opened. The nomination and award process is as follows:
- Download the Nominations Guide and familiarise yourself with award categories, selection criteria, key dates and conditions of entry.
- Submit your nomination on the AEN Award Force Website ensuring you have addressed the selection criteria.
- Each nomination will be assessed individually by an Independent Judging Panel.
- Finalists will be interviewed in the second stage of their nomination.
- Finalists will be invited to attend the Apprentice Training Awards Gala Dinner.
- The winner will be announced and presented with the award at the Gala Dinner.
