by

Skillset are gearing up to run MIP projects in 2018. During 2016 and 2017 Skillset have ran 9 MIP projects across Bathurst, Orange, Mudgee and Dubbo engaging 115 participants in skills across Building and Construction and Engineering and Automotive themes.

Skillset have worked strategically in the community.  They have built a strong and collaborative relationship with Western TAFE NSW, had success with their Job Pledge initiative and have been successful in promoting the work ready candidates in the local media.

Skillset have a very successful partnership with TAFE and won the  NSW Training Award for “industry collaboration in training”.  This award recognises the partnership between TAFE Western and Skillset and the collaborative way they work with TAFE and other funding partners AEN and Training Services NSW to maximise employment opportunities for young people in western NSW.

In addition to the data reported for MIP outcomes Skillset’s programs have additional success in securing pathways and employment.  Results of the Mudgee 2017 group include 9 students progressing into a Certificate II in Constructions pathways with the view to an apprenticeship in Carpentry. 40% of graduates have already secured work. The survey results to date show participants are rating their projects as very valuable and are unanimous in their recommendation of the program to others.
