Students’ false hope on jobs


On Wednesday this week (March 5, 2014), GTAV were featured in and article in “The Australian” newspaper. Gary Workman was interviewed and presented the Association’s view on the current VET system in Victoria.

DEMAND-driven education systems favour colleges and universities rather than students, and will keep doing so until job outcomes are hardwired into funding mechanisms, a Victorian peak group claims.

The Group Training Association of Victoria says policy makers’ preoccupation with qualifications rather than employment has allowed educational institutions to rake in government funds while leaving some students with little more than “false hope”.
